2014 Tour de France: Stage 13 Preview – Saint-Étienne to Chamrousse

Saint-Étienne to Chamrousse
Friday, July 18th / 197.5 km / Mountain Mountain Stage

Two days in the Alps. Two summit finishes. First up a testing 200km run from Saint-Etienne to Chamrousse, which closes with an 18.2km climb that averages 7.3%. Expect a real battle between GC contenders with Richie Porte and Alejandro Valverde taking shots at race leader Vincenzo Nibali.

Our pick: Nibali has been the strongest rider in the race, thus far, and without Alberto Contador and Chris Froome to challenge the Italian, we dont expect that to change. Give the stage win to Porte, but without any significant time gain in the GC chase.
