Another testing day in the Pyrenees, this time the bunch faces the Tourmalet (17.1km, 7.3% average gradient) and then a summit finish atop Hautacam (13.6km, 7.8%). Look for a large breakaway to crest the opening climb together, but then the tractor pull of the favorites will take hold. Will the escapees be brought all the way back or will the favorites rule again? Says here the escapees make it to the finish. But with the favorites knowing they need to take time on the better time trial riders (i.e. Chris Froome), attacks from the GC contenders will come fast and furious.
Our pick: After his breakout win in the Dauphine, Garmin-Sharp rider Andrew Talansky continues his rapid ascension towards being a true Tour contender with his first stage win.
