2018 Velo Chinese Zodiac Saddle Collection

Velo Saddles celebrates every year with a new, unique design that captures traditions of the Chinese culture. In China and Taiwan, each year an animal represents one of the 12 years in the Chinese Zodiac. The launch of the saddle series kicked off back in 2015 with the Year of the Sheep and its adorable ears, followed by the Year of the Monkey, and then the Year of the Rooster. For 2018 it’s the Year of the Dog.

The Year of the Dog captures the image of the ever-popular Golden Retriever, utilizing a special cover treatment technology that allows for stitch craftsmanship of the dog fur. The gold metal chain at the rear of the saddle, further adds to the dog symbolism as well as offers saddle protection.

Owners enjoy collecting these artful, limited release saddles that continue to display Velo’s engineering prowess. Velo has completed the Year of the Dog offering with special packaging to protect the saddle during shipping and delivery and doubles as a convenient messenger bag.

The 2018 Year of the Dog saddle is made with the newest addition to the Velo family: Prevail. Taking cues from the Angel line, the saddle aims to provide comfort while pedaling and a more classic full seat look. At first look, the Prevail doesn’t employ the Y-shaped cutout, but the Y-shaped cutout is within the base to offer pressure relief while maintaining support. Thanks to the additional seat coverage, the Prevail allows for multi-seat positions with a stiffer feel, says Velo.

The Prevail features Velo’s innovative ArcTech rail mounting system on the underside of the saddle, which provides superior support and suspension functionality.

Lastly, Prevail is made using Velo’s AirForm foam which has a soft texture, is able to distribute weight and form to our bodies, yet it isn’t impacted by changing weather, which can turn other saddles hard. Compared to a traditional PU foam, AirForm is 30% more shock absorbent, which reduces fatigue, claims Velo.
