Energy bar introduces espresso chocolate chip flavor and a new website
Chatsworth, CA – Riders from Team SpiderTech powered by C10 are being powered by a new source beginning at this week’s Amgen Tour of California, the biggest professional bike race in the U.S. and one of the most prestigious in the world. Bonk Breaker is now the official energy bar of the UCI Professional Continental squad from Canada. In conjunction with the sponsorship deal that continues through the end of the 2011 cycling season, Bonk Breaker unveiled a new flavor – espresso chocolate chip – and a newly revamped website (www.bonkbreaker.com).
Makers of the freshly baked, all-natural energy bars available in six flavors that are dairy-free and gluten-free, Bonk Breaker is proud to have a presence in the pro peloton. “Bonk Breaker is thrilled to support the talented young team assembled by Steve Bauer, one of our personal cycling heroes. Team SpiderTech powered by C10 is an aggressive and dynamic squad that makes their presence felt every time they race. As a young, growing outfit ourselves, we relate to their winning attitude and are excited about providing these gifted athletes with the best tasting, most nutritious energy bar in the race. The team will give us vital feedback that will further help us refine and develop our products,” said the Bonk Breaker ownership team.
Bauer stated, “We are very pleased to have Bonk Breaker join Team SpiderTech as our energy bar sponsor. It is an important element our team was missing and I know the riders will benefit from the high quality nutrition they provide. Our athletes are particular about what they eat and they have all welcomed Bonk Breaker with thumbs up.”
The riders are gobbling up the bars so fast that additional product had to be shipped to satisfy their hunger during the Amgen Tour of California, a highly demanding week-long stage race through the Golden State that will finish in Thousand Oaks on Sunday (May 22). The team’s Keven Lacombe, who finished 4th in stage 2, said, “Bonk Breaker bars taste great, have excellent nutrition and are formed just the right size for bike racing. Easy to open and easy to eat during the race are very important features that Bonk Breaker has done right.”
One of the first requests made by the team was to have a bar for their riders who are allergic to nuts, which already happened to be in development. This week, Bonk Breaker unveils the espresso chocolate chip bar, their first bar without nut products. “Coffee beverages have long been part of cycling culture. Bonk Breaker wanted to tap into that while also creating a bar without a nut base. The feedback on the espresso chocolate chip bar has been nothing less than enthusiastic. Our seventh flavor, which we expect to release by the end of June, is also nut-free,” explained Jason Winn, the founder of Bonk Breaker. The company anticipates having ten flavors available by the end of the year.
News and information about Bonk Breaker, the ingredients, where to get the bars, testimonials, team and athlete sponsorships, and press reviews are available in an engaging new platform on the Bonk Breaker website, www.bonkbreaker.com, which was renovated and re-launched this week.
