As one of the longest running sponsors of messenger events, we are thrilled to announce that Chrome is returning to present the 2012 CMWCs in Chicago. Not at all new to supporting local and national messenger events all over the world, Chrome’s 17 year reputation of building bombproof products made out of purpose and utility makes it a perfect match for this year’s CMWC.
The Cycle Messenger World Championships (CMWC) is the ultimate urban cycling competition. The strongest, smartest and fastest bike messengers from across the planet converge once a year to determine who is the best in a variety of events that test riders’ physical and mental limits. It is a fully insured competition on a closed course that is sanctioned by the International Federation of Bike Messengers Associations (IFBMA). While most competitors are bike messengers, events are open to everyone, and many non-messengers enjoy the challenge of the competition.
Opening registration on Friday night will be held at the Chrome Chicago HUB location. This store has been continually hosting killer parties and events and we expect this one to maintain. Stop on through the shop at 1529 N Milwaukee Ave both on Friday and any other time through the weekend to say hi to the crew that’s holding it down there.
As for other events during the race weekend, Chrome is helping throw a welcome BBQ, Alleycat race, and a Familia lead welcome ride by their own Squid from the Cyclehawk Messengers out of New York.
“We are stoked to be involved in the CMWC again this year. The venue, the organization staff, and the athletes are going to make it a year to remember. This is where we started and where we will stay; supporting the most epic athletes in the world.” Steve McCallion, President of Chrome Industries.
And make no mistake, the winner of this race will walk away with Chrome’s Coveted Jersey. Only the most badass, gunman will don the jersey and we are all anxiously awaiting to see who steps up on that podium.
Chrome’s design is born of utility and purpose. Anti-nonsense. Everything created with explicit functionality in mind. Bags: guaranteed for life. Their new apparel lines have a simple, honest style that just works: they look good whether you’re on a bike or in a bar.
