Hello and welcome to Day 1 of RoadBikeReview’s daily coverage of the 2014 Sea Otter Classic. During this four-day celebration of all things cycling at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California, we’ll be continually updating this page with photos and beta on all the latest in road bike technology. Whether it’s new gear or apparel, celebrity sightings, or updates on events, this is the place to stay up to date on all the action. Make sure to check back early and often. CIAO BELLA | Austria’s Xentis is here at Sea Otter showing off the new Squad 2.5 SL, a beautiful 25mm full carbon tubular wheelset with carbon hubs and ceramic bearings. Claimed weight a ridiculous 890 grams. -JS

Xentis is also now offering all its wheels with either its traditional white graphics or the pictured murdered out black look. This is the 42mm carbon XBL, MSRP $2000.


RACE-SPECIFIC | New from Schwalbe the One, an $80 race-specific road tire with 127 tpi and a new rubber compound that’s claimed to increase cut resistance and enhance grip. Available in clincher, tubeless and tubular from 23c to 28c. -JS

FROM DOWN UNDER | New from Australia-based Verve Cycling, the InfoCrank power meter ($1750). Separate left and right leg measurement. Transmits via ANT +. Comes as complete system, including cranks, chainrings and bottom bracket. Also included is an o_synce navi2coach head unit, which is comparable to a Garmin 510. More info here. -JS

MADE IN THE USA | Oregon-based Rolf Prima is showing off the ARES 4 Disc, a $2500 set of carbon hoops that are made in the USA. -JS
