SHADES | Sweden’s POC continues to push into the performance eyewear arena with these new shades. Designed with the help of Garmin pro team rider Ryder Hesjedal, they have more aggressive sweep for better face wrap, and an adjustable nose piece. -JS
WHEELS | DT Swiss has launched into the road disc brake fray with the carbon tubeless ready RC 38 Spline. Available in tubular or clincher. Claimed weight for the clincher is 1520 grams. 21mm wide with 15mm internal width. -JS
GRAVEL | Brand new from Panaracer, the Gravel King, an on-pavement/off-pavement road tire available from 23c to 28c, with 32c and 35c coming this summer. MSRP $49. Tread compound is softer than traditional road tires for a more supple ride. -JS
COLORWAYS | Lots of new frame colors from Smith Optics including these sweet camo Overdrives. – JS
GRAVEL GRINDER | We’re loving this gravel grinding whip from Jamis. Dubbed the Tushar Crusher (after the Roubaix style race in Utah) this stealthy machine is full electronic Ultegra with 34c Vitoria CX tires, Ritchey carbon bar, stem and post, and mounts for a rack to carry a six-pack. Not available for sale as of yet. But fun to think of the adventure possibility. – JS
WIND CHEATER | New from Zipp, the SL 70 aerobar, a full carbon wing-shaped wind cheater that’s claimed to save 6 watts at 30mph.
Features include a 70mm reach, increased stiffness, and rapid routing for easier cable set-up. – JS

DISC BEAUTY | Coming in August from consumer-direct bike seller Fezzari, this disc-equipped beauty with electronic Ultegra and thru-axle front and rear. Estimated MSRP $3000. -JS

OTTER TIME | Big crowds have come out for day 2 here at the Sea Otter Classic. -JS

CYCLOCROSS | SRAM is here at Sea Otter showing off its new Force-level CX1 drivetrain, the cyclocross version of XX1. Gone is the front derailleur. New is a chainring that’s claimed to all but eliminate dropped chains. The system also has a clutch style rear derailleur that reduces chain slap. -JS
GEAR SHED | Subaru is a big sponsor of the Sea Otter Classic and they have a cool booth full of all kinds of outdoor sports goodies we want to throw in the trunk. -DP
TURBO TROY | We spotted the legendary Mr. Troy Lee out for a quick pedal on a Specialized Turbo electric-assist bike. Though he admitted the bike “is cheating” he had a smile on his face as he went from zero to 25 in a few pedal strokes. -DP
LIFE AQUATIC | Sea Otter brought a little bit of the nearby Monterey, Calif. coast to Laguna Seca to make it fun for the kids. -DP
