Portable Sublimation Technology Helps Hincapie Print Leader Jerseys On-site

(Hincapie), manufacturer and marketer of distinctive clothing for the performance cyclist, has been named the official cycling jersey supplier of the Amgen Tour of California the largest cycling event in America. Hincapie will provide premium Amgen Tour of California custom cycling apparel for general race and other official category leaders. In addition to being the official cycling apparel supplier to the Amgen Tour of California, Hincapie will also have an extended on-site presence throughout the entire nine day event.

Hincapie will produce special jerseys for the Amgen Tour of California, including the King of the Mountain, Best Young Rider, Most Aggressive Rider, Sprint and Amgen Overall Leader jerseys, customized with their team sponsor logos. Hincapie uses advanced portable custom sublimation technology—the same technology used in the Tour de France—to print sponsor logos onto the jerseys for each category leader every day. This permanent printing is very popular with the riders and ensures that the logos stay on the leaders jerseys for the life of the product. Fans and race attendees will have the opportunity to purchase official Amgen Tour of California apparel in the Health and Wellness Expo, which is free to the public at each finish line host venue. Already considered cycling’s most important and successful road race in the United States, the 2009 Amgen Tour of California will be expanded to cover more than 750 miles over nine days. The event’s fourth running is scheduled for February 14-22, 2009, and will showcase some of the world’s top professional cycling teams. Traveling almost the entire length of California on a demanding course, the race will begin in the state’s capital, Sacramento, and end in San Diego County for the first time.
Tour de France and Amgen Tour of California Stage winner George Hincapie will be racing the 2009 event as a lead up to the Tour de France in July. “I like racing in California and I’m excited about the new nine stage format,” said George Hincapie, 13-time Tour de France veteran. “This is the first major race of the season, and it’s always competitive.”
