Apparently Giro pities the fool who can't tie his shoe--or something like that. The cycling helmet, apparel and shoe maker entertained Interbike attendees with an appearance by American cycling star Taylor Phinney of Team BMC and a (very) Las Vegas Mr. T impersonator.
The stunt was coordinated by Giro Sports Marketing Director Chuck Platt (right) who shares a laugh with Phinney before Mr. T showed up.
Phinney is still recovering from a broken leg he suffered as a result of a crash at the USA Cycling National Road Championship back in June. Though he uses a cane to keep weight off his leg, he says the recovery is going well.
Phinney signs a shoelace autograph card for a young fan as part of a shoe-themed promotion at Giro's Interbike booth.
