Attention to detail and wheel expertise is Irwin’s core strength. So we are pleased to announce they are debuting their products to the US Market at Sea Otter. They focus first on design and materials then meticulous wheel building processes and quality control.
Their key advantage focuses on the following areas:
They harmonize the stiffness of each component and maximize the stiffness of the build at each price point. Customized carbon layup and resin compound creates a radially stiff rim. Wider hubs and taller flanges create an optimal bracing angle for exceptional lateral wheel stiffness. Tried and tested lacing patterns provide torsional stiffness and guarantees pure acceleration during maximum effort.
Obsession with bearing smoothness
Ever spin your wheels to feel how smooth and friction-free the bearings are? At Irwin, they do that a lot, with methodology. The hubs are carefully tested with bearings to withstand the demands of the road. Each shell is thoroughly tested and measured at every stage of the R&D process. Result is a precision-machined lightweight hub that is reliable and durable for ultimate performance.
Rapid engagement lets you put the power down instantly so it is a desired trait. But it is not easy to accomplish with manufacturing and reliability issues when not done right. IRWIN 6 pawl freehubs have a unique 6 pawl/60 ratchet design for rapid engagement and efficient power transfer. The staggered ‘two group’, set of pawls drive the freehub independently where three pawls are always engaged, while the other three pawls are preloaded to reduce drag and still retain a responsive 3 degree engagement.
So they are proud to introduce these technologies to the US market with these systems.
“We are excited to be in the US to launch Irwin Cycling. We have had success in other parts of the world and look forward to showing our line to the US market/” “Tubeless ready road wheels are here to stay and we are confident our AON TLR series can go head-to-head with what’s out there today for road, CX and gravel.” – Eric Chen, Irwin president
Color options are silver or stealth graphics. Disc brake option is offered in the 38mm profile. Every Irwin model goes through a rigorous 5-point testing protocol in their in-house testing facility. The wheels have external nipples for easy maintenance without removing the tire. AON TLR models are shipped with pre-installed tubeless rim tape, skewers, bespoke brake pads and alloy tubeless valve stems. Retail prices range from $1600-$1800.
