News

Times are tough in America right now. And glamorous Orange County (OC) hasn’t escaped the pain of the current recession; not to mention the disastrous fires last month. There is a 5¢ a pound solution. A local bike shop has the plan.

PRLog (Press Release) – What in the world, other than maybe sand, can you get for 5¢ a pound? Twenty pounds for only $1.00. Certainly not water. Water costs about $.80 for a pound in your local grocery store. Rock N’ Road Cyclery, with four dynamic bike shops in Orange County has actually become part of a major event in December that results in their ability to make this offer.

Rock N’ Road has joined forces with Feed America or as they were previously known, Second Harvest Food Bank, to help feed the poor and displaced in Orange County. This will be the second year that Rock N’ Road has joined with their customers to help in this effort. Nationally, Feed America is able to distribute $20 worth of food for every $1.00 donation. There are more details about cash donations on their website at www.feedamerica.org.

During December, if you bring in 3 canned goods or 3 of any other items on the list below to a local Rock N’ Road Cyclery location, you will receive a Free Rock N’ Road Cyclery water bottle. We encourage all our customers to come in & give a little to those who need it most.

Needed Items:
Canned meats, canned fish, beef stew, chili, pasta, macaroni & cheese, rice, beans, Canned fruit & vegetables, canned juices, soups, hot & cold cereals, peanut butter.

We would also like to invite you to come and join a bunch of other cyclists on our “BEAT HUNGER” ride December 13th. The ride will be starting at 8:00 a.m. from our Irvine location 6282 Irvine Blvd just off the tollway.

The ride will head counter clockwise through Santiago Canyon (approx. 33 miles). We will regroup twice on the ride. No one will be left behind. Additional miles will be added afterwards for those really hungry people. At the end of the ride we will enjoy coffee and treats together!

There will also be a raffle at the end of the ride for a Rock N’ Road kit (jersey and shorts). Raffle tickets will be given to people who bring in food items that day. We will be giving away one ticket per canned good item. What’s better than riding for a good cause and getting a chance at winning something, too? You can’t beat that!
Hope to see you there! For more information check our website at http://wwwrocknroadcyclery.net or call our Irvine Store 949-733-2453.
