Kali Protectives launches Tava aero road helmet

$250 brain protector at home on road, dirt, gravel and in the air

Helmets News
The Tava is an aero helmet designed for all out speed, but cyclocross racers will also enjoy it’s advantages on the race course.

While some manufacturers project an aura of seriousness, Kali Protectives prefers a more lighthearted approach. Yes, their new $250 aero road helmet is backed by a host of bold wind cheating claims. But it’s also right at home on gravel, dirt or wherever else you chose to ride. Check out this video for proof of that.

Despite this more casual approach, the new Tava looks to be a serious competitor in the aero road helmet arena. Indeed, Kali claims that wind tunnel testing performed by an independent party found its new brain protector reduced drag by an average of 50 grams at a 5-degree offset, which translates to a half second savings per kilometer, or 25 seconds over 50km.

Like golf, lower scores are better in this.

In addition to being fast, the Tava marks the debut of Kali’s new Bumper Fit 2.0 technology, which is designed to reduce damage from low speed impacts and rotational forces.

At launch, the Tava will only be available in black. That’s not ideal for visibility when on the road, but it does look fast…

The blue material interspersed throughout the helmet liner has been shown in testing to reduce G forces in a 1.5 m drop by up to 12%.
