Remember bar end shifters? They were a huge upgrade over downtube shifters, but not as efficient as the modern integrated shifter. The one exception is for touring or commuter bikes, where the simple actuation is ideal. If you want to convert your road bike to flat bars or just miss thumbies, then Paul’s new Microshift Thumbies are worth a look.

The Microshift thumbies are available in either silver or black. Paul is also known for doing limited edition color batches.

The Thumbies have a hinged clamp for easy installation. The clamp is also slightly raised to provide better clearance with hydraulic brakes. It’s left or right specific and ships in a 22.2mm diameter, which is compatible with most handlebars.

Shifters are not included, but are available in 8-11 speed versions.

A single Thumbie retails for $42. The pair retails for $79. And before you complain about price, remember these components are hand made in the United States.

Much as I love Paul components, why would you pay $79.00 for just the mounts when you can a pair of mounts and shifters for $65.00?
