Quick Take: Capo Thermo Roubaix LF Gloves

Apparel

Why you want: You ride year round and you’d like to avoid frostbitten digits.

Pros: Long fingered coverage with Thermo Roubaix fabric featuring hollow core microfiber that traps air, effectively insulating your fingers without having to resort to thicker heavier materials. Silicone palm grip with tiny Capo logos helps maintain handlebar grip even in wet weather, and a wrist pull-tab round out the features.

Cons: Anybody riding in areas where the temperatures dip lower than 45 degrees will need to find a thicker glove option.

RoadBikeReview Take: Gloves are an accessory that many people swear by, they prevent blisters, help with grip, can be used to wipe sweat away, and protect your hands in the event of a crash.

I’m not one of those people.

During the spring and summer months, I find wearing no gloves to be more enjoyable. With nothing on my hands, I feel they cool off much quicker as the wind goes rushing by my fingers.

Now that winter is here though, that wind is much more frigid. Off to search for a glove that would keep my digits warm and toasty, I came across Capo’s Thermo Roubaix LF (long finger) gloves. The understated appearance of the gloves appealed to me, with nothing more than Capo’s Gruppo Sportivo logo on the outside and many smaller silicon Capo logos providing grip on the palm side. On my chilly morning and evening commutes, the Thermo Roubaix material does a great job of keeping my hands warm and protected from the chill. A blend of nylon and lycra on the outside, the inside is a soft hollow fiber polyester and Lycra fleece material, the combination of materials insulates well and dries quickly.

For our mild winters here in California, the Thermo Roubaix LF glove works well. In more extreme temperatures, these probably wouldn’t cut it as your main glove, but rather could be used as a liner in a thicker glove.

The Capo Thermal Roubaix LF gloves retail for $45 and come in any color you’d like, as long as that color is black.

Price: $45 (available in S-XXL)
