2015 Lights Shootout

Blackburn Central 20 Rear Front

We kind of like this Blackburn Central 20 Rear tail light for $35. First of all, it's incredibly bright as it measured 31 Lumens in an integrating sphere. It's brighter than its 20 Lumens claims and one of the brightest ones in this test.

The form factor is nice and compact as it's shaped like a matchbox, but without any sharp corners. It can clip on to clothing or a backpack and it can strap on to a bike with an included elastic band. Angle for seatpost mounting isn't vertical, but this light does not have to be aimed precisely facing rearward. Since there's no lens on the LEDs, the light output has a very wide throw.

Finally, the price is fair at $35. It is rechargeable with a micro USB port once the 25 hours on high mode is reached.

This light has a matching front light too called the Central 100 Front.
