Silca is one of the oldest names in the cycling industry and they have been making top notch floor pumps for decades. The fit and finish of Silca's products are all very high quality with aesthetics that make them look like they should be hanging in an art gallery not a garage.

Now, the company is taking a modern twist by expanding their product offerings to portable travel tools. Just announced is the 5 position multi-ratchet called the T-Ratchet and a 30 gram torque measuring extender called the Ti-Torque. Silca used the popular crowd funding website Kickstarter for this project and they have already reached their goal to help cover the costs of tooling and machining.

Silca's new T-Ratchet is a 100mm long, 60 gram tool which magnetically converts between a T-Handle tool, thumb stabilized ratchet tool, and flag handled screwdriver. The tool uses a Silca developed 72 tooth ratchet mechanism for significantly finer engagement than other designs.

The Ti-Torque is a 30 gram, 100mm long extender for the T-Ratchet capable of measuring 0-8Nm torque readings in real time. Ti-Torque is based on a 6Al/4V titanium torsion beam and displays torque on the side of the extender during use.

Silca has spent more than 10 months in development and has worked with numerous ProTour mechanics, fit studios, adventure athletes and others to refine the design and achieve ideal ergonomics. Silca President Josh Poertner explains, "We started this project with great excitement, but the response from our test athletes and mechanics in the field has been truly overwhelming. We've literally had product testers refuse to send them back for evaluation as they felt the tools were too critical to their daily lives. Stories of fixing bicycles at the Dauphine and Giro, on the Tour Divide route, adjusting ski bindings in a helicopter on the way up a mountain and so many more. We are thrilled that we can finally bring accurate torque and along with superior ergonomics and function to this category."

The Kickstarter campaign still has 27 days to go (as of the writing of this article) so if you are interested in getting in early, check it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1400728964/t-ratchet-multi-tool-and-ti-torque-travel-torque-e. For those who pledge early, the Silca T-Ratchet and the Ti-Torque will run you $80.
