Sneak Peek: Moots Factory Tour

Company Spotlight Feature Articles

Carbon fiber may be the reigning building-material king of the cycling industry, and Asia may be the hotbed of that production, but back here in the U.S. of A there are still some great bikes being made — and not all of them are constructed with composite materials.

Need proof? This past weekend traveled to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, to visit the small, but passionate operation that is Moots Cycles. They make mountain bikes, road bikes, cross bikes, and fat bikes. And they make them all out of titanium, the same way they have since 1981.

In the weeks to come, we’ll be posting an in-depth look inside the Moots factory, detailing just how one of their bikes (stock or custom) comes to life.

In the meantime, here’s a teaser gallery of what we saw, along with a few impressive facts: all Moots titanium is sourced from U.S. mills, all Moots frames are completely handmade in their Colorado facility, and under normal circumstances, it takes a full 6-8 weeks for raw tubing to be turned into a frame ready to ship. Craftsmanship lives.
