Team Type 1 Names Allen Salikof New President


Atlanta, GA – Team Type 1, a global sports organization dedicated to radically changing the lives of people around the world with diabetes, appointed Allen Salikof to the position of President, effective immediately. Mr. Salikof, previously President & CEO of Management Recruiters International, Inc. (MRI), has come out of retirement to handle overall responsibilities for the development and growth of the international concern.

A driving force and respected influencer in the recruitment industry, Mr. Salikof brings over 30 years of worldwide leadership and corporate management expertise to Team Type 1. He began his career as a recruiter at MRI in Tulsa, OK, in 1976, where he was quickly recognized as a rising star and promoted to manager for offices in Phoenix, AZ and Kansas City, KS before acquiring his own franchise in 1988 in Cherry Hill, PA. The Cherry Hill franchise, listed #1 among the company’s offices, was purchased by CDI Inc. in 1997 and Mr. Salikof was appointed President & CEO of MRI World Wide. Under his direction the company experienced unprecedented growth, reaching nearly 1 billion in system wide sales prior to his retirement in 2006.

In his new role, Mr. Salikof will oversee all facets of Team Type 1’s core global business, including the company’s 107 athletes, and the Team Type 1 Diabetes Sports Research Institute. His responsibilities encompass strategic development, marketing, human resources, operations and fundraising for the organization.

“What Phil has accomplished is incredible,” says Mr. Salikof. “My primary focus will be to assist in the next phase of building the business, leaving Phil to work with policy makers and opinion leaders to create change and save lives. Team Type 1 presents a unique opportunity for me to give back on a full time basis and make a difference to children and families struggling with diabetes.”

Mr. Salikof currently serves on the Strategic Planning Committee for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in Atlanta and was active at the Arthur Ashe Foundation and the Synder Foundation in Philadelphia, as well as the American Cancer Society.

Throughout his career Mr. Salikof has received numerous distinctions and was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the recruiting industry in 2003. He was also lauded by the International Franchise Association as 1994’s Franchise of the Year, and received Person of the Year Award from MRI that same year. In addition to holding a record six Billing Manger of the Year Awards at MRI, he is the all-time sales leader in the company’s 50 year history.

Mr. Salikof earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. He presently resides in Atlanta with his wife Kaye, an active Board Member for JDRF in Atlanta.
