Pro cyclists burn thousands of calories during long race days. That’s why eating while riding is key. So what does the Tour de France peloton consume during a stage? Our friends at the Global Cycling Network rolled through the feed zone to get an inside look at what’s inside the musettes (aka food bags) of Orica-GreenEDGE, Lotto-Bellisol, Radioshack, Euskaltel, Europcar, Vacansoleil and Belkin. Almost all of them subsist on some combination of energy drinks and gels with some “real” food mixed in for good measure. Take a look:
