With the Giro d’Italia’s critical 58.8km stage 8 time trial on tap for Saturday, here’s a tip-to-tail look at GC favorite Bradley Wiggins’ brand new Pinarello Bolide TT bike. The 2012 Tour de France champion and multi-time Olympic gold medalist will be looking to pull back some or all of the time he lost after crashing during Friday’s rain-slicked run from San Salvo to Pescara.
Wiggins enters the Italian grand tour’s first “race of truth” more than a minute behind fellow GC favorites Vincenzo Nibali, Ryder Hesjedal, Cadel Evans and Robert Gesink. You’ll notice the Bolide is dappled with gold accents. A little bird tells us that tomorrow Wiggins will be wearing a matching skinsuit and helmet to commemorate his gold medal win in the TT last summer in London.
