Video of the Day: Amazing Stunts and Crazy Crashes

Video

On Sunday, the 2013 professional cycling season kicks off in earnest with the year’s first Spring Classic, the 185-mile test of mettle that is Italy’s famed Milan-San Remo. Look for the likes of Peter Sagan, Fabian Cancellera, and sprinter extraordinaire Mark Cavendish to contest the final mad dash to the line. [Says here Sagan takes the win.]

In honor of this great race – and the true start of the 2013 season – we did a little digging around YouTube land and discovered this (humorous) look back at the 2012 campaign. There are lots of classic moments, including one of our favorites when what looks like BMC general manager Jim Ochowicz goes ditch diving during an ill-fated wheel change attempt (see 2:12).

While were at it, we couldn’t resist taking another look at Martyn Ashton’s absolutely amazing bike handling skills. The Brit is best known for his acumen on a trials bike, but here he shows off his talents aboard a Pinarello Dogma road bike. You have to see it to believe it. This video already has over 7 million views, but if you haven’t tuned in, it’s well worth five minutes of your time. Happy Friday!
