Interbike 2008 - RoadbikeReview

Pro3 Grip

Already proven in real world Pro Tour tests (including the Tour de France), the new Pro3 tire range will feature lighter weights, better efficiency and up to 27% more grip than the Pro² models they replace. In Michelin's own testing, we found a 3 mph increase in maximum speed when turning on a 25 meter radius corner. Look for them in the Spring of 2008.

Michelin Pro3 Grip:
  • Rubber mix derived from MotoGP and auto racing technology
  • ESC extra-supple casing for flexibility, performance and lightweight
  • Extra Supple Casing– highly flexible, cross-ply carcass with 127 TPI (420 threads/dm²) cord density, a technology used in top-of-the-line tires that helps them achieve the highest levels of performance
  • Flexible beads (foldable tires)
  • High Density Puncture Protector – strong, lightweight, interwoven anti-puncture reinforcement inserted under the center tread
  • High Protect Rim System – Protective strip that protects the bead area against wear from the rim. The HPRS is used on all flexible-bead Michelin tires
  • Lightweight skinwalls, with casing plies surrounded by a thin coat of rubber
  • Dual Compound – technology for road tires, this includes two co-extruded compounds with one compound (with enhanced grip) on the shoulders and a second (with lower rolling resistance) in the center
  • Silica Energy – Rubber mix reinforced with 100% silica for an optimized balance between rolling resistance and grip. Silica also helps shed mud in off-road applications
