here is the better photo of my Colnago C35 Ferrari engineered bike...not just Ferrari sticker...ENGINEERED BY THE SAME GUYS DOING Michael Schumacher's F1 Car...Rare Bike.Only 3 known in the ENTIRE Philippines.
hi tymon_tm. thanks for looking at my ugly bike... i am a mechanical engineer myself.i dont know why Ferrari engineers made the swooping up top tube...my guess is they know better than Giant bicycle engineers that if you design a slopping top tube...you will need a longer seatpost...and longer seatpost flexes! carbon tube shape of my ferrari is quatro cantos (4 edges). the edges makes the bike ridgid...its a bit heavy (more than 1 kg) because of thicker carbon fiber...but am not a weight freak so i dont mind...look at the bottom bracket...bulky isnt it? when the c40s came ...the bottom bracket became thinner to save weight? then when the c50s came...the bottom bracket becamne bulky and similar to the Ferrari again. Why is that? because some people claimed that the early C40 is too soft at the bottom bracket area...(my asian competitors at tour of Egat thailand 2005 where the ones complaining)...how is the ride...its a short top tube bike (52 center to center) compared to my C40 which is a (53 center to center)...so when i ride my c35 its as if im on a track bike. very responsive. but i wont ride the c35 ferrari longer than a 60kilometer race...because there is only one cage that can be fitted on it...on the downtube...the seat tube dont have the provision for the bottle cage...i used this bike for my criterium and team time trials...i race 12 months a year ...once a month as part of team Waterwood Park Cycling Club...here in the Philippines...masters 40 and above category...
my point of view, when it comes to high-end road bikes, is that if it works for the pro's it can work for amateurs as well. most bikes these days get sloping top tubes, some of them like BH are very radical in 'taking it low', but apparently this is not the issue for ullrich, vino or heras.
secondly, i keep on hearing or reading about different top bikes, that they flex, they do something slightly worse or better than (here goes the name of a dream bike) etc. just read reviews on roadbikereview.com! sometimes it feels like complaining that gold isn't golden enough. I know many riders who bought bikes many pros would dream of and still having some 'issues', blah blah blah.. there's a cycling team in Poland, DHL-author riding on Author bikes, not even full carbon, and these guys keep on being competitive as hell and are for sure amongst top teams in eastern europe.
my opinion is that many riders become maniacs just about having some specific bike or specific part, without asking themselves a single question about their own performance and abilities. well it's ok, it's ok as long as they don't cry how these new carbon hoops flex... geeezzz!
dont worry about it...am a nice guy...i see your point...and am not at all disappointed that you think my ferrari is ugly...hahaha! Maestro Ernesto Colnago would be very disappointed though..he spent tens of thousand of dollars for the special mold used to build this bike...(thats why the bike is expensive) and if you go to the colnago gallery you will see that this bike got Olympic Pedigree (italian Olympic team time trialists 1996 used a blue and black fade ITT version of the Ferrari). Also there is this Colnago C35 Review from a news paper article. I saw it from the web one day and i had a good laugh. London Independent 1999 i think...I cant remember but i did read the review of a british bloke (gentleman) who obviously couldnt understand the difference between the 4,500 English Pounds Sterling Colnago C35 Ferrari Bike and his reliable steel gentleman's roadster...he complains of the pinkish color of the Ferrari saddle (see my selle italia novus ferrari saddle)and when he tried to ride it around the london streets he became so ashamed of the Ferrari because some british fellows on steel bikes passed him one by one (when you are on my C35 Ferrari...people do tend to size you up and race you around street corners to see just how fast the Ferrari can go!)the british gentleman was so ashamed of his Colnago C35 Ferrari's slow speed that he headed home and decided to hide away the ferrari. In the end he concluded that it is still the motor (the man on the bike) that matters rather than the brand on the bike.He concluded that the Ferrari isnt worth the money but if anyone out there are still crazy enough to buy the bike he gave away the name of the dealer and the telephone number anyway! hahaha.
i could BUY 10 Chromoly steel bikes for the price i paid for my Colnago C35 Ferrari. I could even build my own stainless steel super stiff bike (I own a specialty shop doing stainless steel and have employed one of the best Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welder IN THE ENTIRE PHILIPPINES.) But my Colnago C35 Ferrari (mine is a year 2000 model and i believe only 500 units were made) with all its inherent flaws (its a heavy bike and got scratched paint on the fork and inside chain stay because when i had a puncture... the tyre rubber rubbed the inside of the chain stay OUCH!!!..the red ferrari paint is brittle so am extra careful on my bike) will FOREVER remain a special bike ..just like a Michael Schumacher's F1 Ferrari will remain FOREVER a special car...
Thanks again for you kind comments.
PS..i forgot to tell you...here in Manila my Ferrari isnt known as the C35....nobody knows what a Colnago C35 is except for Colnago collectors...in Manila my bike is known as the Colnago F1...F1 for Formula One...hahaha!
PS2...im not a poser...so i didnt buy the bike so that i can show it around club rides...i bought this bike to help me kick ass...see my trophy in this gallery..its the first victory for my ferrari...after only a month of buying the bike i raced it and won a criterium race...so nobody ever tries to race me down street corners in Manila anymore...its not the Ferrari that's gonna go fast...its the rider that's gonna kick ass.hahaha
Guys who buy Colnagos don't buy it just because it is a great bike (which they are, but that's not the point). Colnagos are bought and ridden for the bling effect, for the exclusivity effect. Same as buying a real Ferrari automobile. Is it a better sports car than a Corvette, a Honda NSX, or any other sports car that is more affordable? Arguably no, but it's a Ferrari, which is an exclusive car that turn heads and peels off panties. So are Colnagos. They are exclusive,, exquisite machines, built with the top of the top components and with beautiful paint jobs. Surely an Author, a Leader or a Trek bicycle can be as mechanically great a bicycle as a Colnago, but it doesn't have that bling effect, that exclusivity factor. I admire Colnagos for the work of art that they are, and I've had the pleasure of riding a C50 for 5 miles, it rode nicely, smooth, like I'd expect a top of the line bike to. I also got every other road biker around me staring at the bike and at me. That's what Colnagos are for: turning heads. If I owned a Colnago I'd be worried of taking ti out on the streets and crashing/scratching it, for they are beautiful bikes and exclusive too. The C35 is even more of an exclusive ride, with those sloped, 4-edge shaped tubes, the Ferrari sticker, and the Ferrari-like price. Beautiful ride, nice bike...
Thanks so much for your nice comment...there is no Colnago C35 website around so i took liberty of posting all jpeg images of the rare bike C35 Ferrari just in case the bike gets obsolete (an obsolete C35? hahaha)
While warming up for a 35 kilometer Individual Time Trial in the former USA Airforce base in Clark Airforce base here in Angeles Pampanga Philippines...two va va voom babes did approach me and took a long sexy look at my bike and me...three of my teammates were actually there when the girls approached ...but unfortunately the race was about to start...and i didnt have time to talk to the girls! Actually.. the only trouble with the C35 is that its a two wheeled Ferrari...with zero passenger seats for the girls...when you are in Manila and wishes to bring in your Colnago...let me know...maybe we can pick up some girls on the road...and let them ride my team escort vehicle! Thanks again for your nice comments...
Hi bisekleta_guy hey I think you got your facts messed up.....If a race is about to start and two babes approached you , quit the race and talk to the girls! If you got their numbers by the end of the day , its like winning the Tour de France!(or close to)Hey you are married right?
And don't worry the top tube looks fine , seems rather aerodynamic(is it?)Its gives the bike charactor , like ferrari, one look and you know its a C35
i forgot to mention the two girls are wearing super short short denim pants and riding a motorcycle! bummer...MY ENTIRE TEAM IS BEING CALLED ON THE STARTING LINE while the babes are wanting to start a conversation...the ITT is 30 kilometers long...took me 1 hour and 07 minutes with the uphill climb and all...didnt win so i looked for the babes...i guess they couldnt wait for an hour or so...hahaha...yes my wife had been following me every race day but that was the day when she had business to attend to and was absent! double bummer...hahaha
