Strength:

Smooth ti ride, low maintenance, reasonably relaxed geometry.

Weakness:

Little mushy in the BB under heavy power.

Bought this bike as a trainer. It's great on long rides, and when I want to spend long hours spinning. Would never use in crit, but maybe in a century. Easy to muscle this bike around. Probably not great for larger riders (185+). Get something stiffer.

If you stay with Litespeed, go after an Ultimate, or something with a 6/4 down tube. Maybe a Colnago?

Strength:

(+) Silky smooth over the roughest of pavements
(+) Classic geometry. Nothing fancy; stable at all speeds
(+) Litespeed quality and road feel; distinctive even among similar titanium makers

Weakness:

(-) If you are big (180+) or a dedicated racer forget about this frame

I shopped around for about three months before finally making this purchase. I'm a bit biased toward Litespeed because I own one of their mountain bikes but I wanted to see what else was out there. I started with aluminum from Cannondale and Trek and it was way, way too stiff and harsh. I then test rode a sweet Serotta Ti Classic. It was more comfortable but it didn't have the silky smooth Ti ride quality I was used to on my mountain bike. So I test rode an Arenberg and I was hooked. I'm a small rider (49cm) so flex wasn't an issue with any of the Litespeed bikes. What I liked about the Arenberg is that it has a very distinctive ride quality that I only find on Litespeed. It's hard to describe but it is incredibly smooth and forgiving over any road irregularities while still providing stiffness for any sprints or climbs. I haven't found this combination of stiffness/smoothness in any other manufacturer. What I like about the Arenberg is its bent seat stays that tend to absorb vibrations better than a straight seat stay. Keep in mind though that I do not race or do any crits and I would not recommend this bike if you race or are bigger than 180 pounds. I'm a recreational rider that likes doing long training rides and an occasional triathlon. If you are a serious racer I would go with the Ultimate or Palmeres if you can afford it.

This is a great bike - I have been riding for 10 years and most of that on a Bianchi Alfana - a traditional steel bike. The Arenburg is lighter and it handles great in tight stuff and dampens out the road chatter. I think it is awesome for long training rides and it super comfortable - and I certainly will not hesitate to race on it. A terrific all around bike.
