Strength:

Light, stiff, comfortable. Ultegra 11 speed brilliant.

Weakness:

None so far. OEM wheelset robust but possibly on the heavy side for the bike.

This is a review for the 2014 Hi Mod 3 Ultegra. Purchased at LBS for NZ$6,500. Previous bike was Synapse alloy 105. I'm 5' 9" and the 54 fits me perfectly. Changes to stock include removing integrated spacer/light and replace with single 10mm spacer. Swapped 11-32 cassette for 11-28. Replaced original Mavic Ksyrium wheelset with Fulcrum Racing 1 + Continental GP4000s. Very comfortable with this setup. Had the bike 9 months and IMHO it lives up to the hype. Fast, smooth, comfortable. Have ridden some gravel roads, swapping back to Mavic wheels and Mavic 28c tyres, kept up with X bikes no problem.

Strength:

Light smooth, responsive

Weakness:

Not designed for Crits...But I wouldn't rule one out!

I'm impressed with the feel of the bike after 3-4 hours in the saddle. Our roads in Idaho are often not as smooth as we'd like them to be. (That's being polite.) The rear triangle definitely dampens the higher-frequency vibrations that drive you nuts after awhile yet remain on call for a strong effort. No mush here. The SAVE (Synapse Active Vibration Elimination) fork does pretty well, also. Steering into corners, the slightly longer wheelbases yields a different feel than the Super Six, Madones or Tarmacs. Handling resembles the Specialized Roubaix, as you might expect. Being and "Old Dude", I appreciate the longer head tube and slightly more upright riding position it offers. After about 600 miles, I can say with full confidence it was a good move. SRAM Red rocks. Light, smooth and responsive.
