Continental Grand Prix Force Tires - Clincher

DESCRIPTION

The Continental Grand Prix Force Rear Clincher Tire is a rear-specific tire built to offer an ideal blend of traction and durability. A big part of its ability to deliver seemingly mutually exclusive traits is that the Force Rear Tire is made with Continental's Black Chili rubber compound. Just like the Attack, its front-specific counterpart, the Force is optimized for its role as a back tire. You could think of it as a GP 4000s that's been race tuned for the rear of your bike. The Black Chili compound increases tread flexibility to ensure road-hugging compliance. This flexibility gives the tire better rebound over irregularities in the road surface, reducing rolling resistance as well. The nano-sized Black Chili particles effectively "fill" the voids naturally inherent in typical rubbers to increase the amount of rubber in the contact patch of the tire. This reduces tire wear at the same time it aids traction. The Continental Force Rear Tire has a high-mileage Black Chili tread, engineered to withstand the greater demands placed on a rear tire when you're constantly driving forward. The 24mm profile is an ideal choice for comfort, rolling resistance, and durability. Its dynamic siped tread pattern is rear-specific. It has a Vectran layer sandwiched in place between the tread and the 330tpi casing for added flat resistance.

I just switched to the Attack/Force set. They are a great ride, but my Force tire ripped through the kevlar layer on a piece of glass after only 700 miles. Was hoping for more durability for the money.

Strength:

Flat free, smoot ride.

Weakness:

None

I had a rear flat first time out. Ran over
a large crown staple with a very sharp point that any bike tire would have punctured. I logged 2500 miles on both tires and no addition flats. My route has lots of stones & glass and these tires have no large cuts and I would not change brand. Just put on 2008 model set with
even more protection and the ride is very smooth.

Strength:

Performance.

Weakness:

New Black Chili compound is not as resistant to cuts and abrasions as previous tire material and consequently can reduce product lifespan

Good handling performance which inspired faster descents and cornering. My experience with this product is too recent to provide and in-depth review and have only mentioned a newly-discovered weakness.

I have to disagree with the other review. This review is for the Force/Attack pair. I logged 2800 miles without a flat! Awesome cornering and stability. Just bought another set for this season.

Strength:

Possibly the lightwieght but what good is lightwieght when you're flatted out. Flatted on first ride. My old tires were ridden on same route for 1000's miles with about 1 flat/2yrs.

Weakness:

Cost,unpredictable reliability.

These tires flatted after 8 miles(with Spinskins liners)on a route which I logged about 1000 flat free miles on Specialized flakjacket(with Spinskins liners)tires. I then took the bus back home, took off the tires, and gave them to my friend.
