Blackburn is looking for a few riders with the fortitude and stamina to “go long,” as well as the communications chops to blog about it. For the second consecutive year, the maker of packs, racks, tools, locks, lights and other bike accessories is fielding a group of ambassadors who embody the adventurous spirit of the storied brand to join the ranks of the “Blackburn Rangers.”

This year’s riders begin their adventure by attending Ranger Camp at the Whiskey Off-Road endurance race in Prescott, Ariz., where they’ll stock up on Blackburn gear as they ready for their trips–one a road ride down the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route, a 1,700-mile road route from Vancouver, B.C., Canada, along the Pacific Ocean, south to the border of Mexico; the other an off-road adventure along the 2,700-mile Great Divide Mountain Bike Route that follows the crest of the Rocky Mountains from Banff, Alta., Canada to the US-Mexico border.

“Blackburn was really born from a spirit of adventure and exploration,” said Blackburn Product Manager Robin Sansom. “The Blackburn Ranger program allows us to highlight some of the people who embody that spirit, and the kind of routes that nourish that mentality. It’s also a perfect test bed for us to vet out current and prototype product in extreme conditions.”

Application details are on the Be A Blackburn Ranger web page, and selected riders will receive Blackburn gear, a trip to Ranger Camp and a small travel stipend for their trip, as well as appear in brand videos and promotional materials. The application deadline is February 15.
