All City Cycles Nature Boy Cyclocross, Mr. Pink and Space Horse Road Bikes

Cross Feature Articles Road Bike Video

I had the recent pleasure of meeting and talking to Lisa Snyder at the recent SaddleDrive bike dealer event in Ogden, UT. Lisa is the brand manager for All City Cycles, a small brand from Minneapolis that makes cyclocross, road, fixed gear freestyle and tracks bikes. Going into their 4th year, their goal is to make a significant contribution to the machinery and culture of urban cycling. Integral to to their bike culture is Bandit Cross. What is Bandit Cross? Check this trailer for a quick glimpse into movement. The full feature documentary video has just been recently released – “Bandit Cross: Ruining it for Everybody presented by All City Cycles”

Highlighted here are 3 All City bikes for 2013 including: the Nature Boy, Mr. Pink and the Space Horse. The names are as eclectic and colorful as the company and the people that comprise the brand.

Nature Boy – All City is deep into the cyclocross culture and counter-culture both. That Nature Boy is an expression of this and is a singlespeed cross bike. Check the Hennepin Avenue Bridge landmark on the dropout which makes the bikes easily recognizable as an All City original!

  • Race geometery for a light, really quick feel
  • 612 Select double butted Chromoly tubing (this is AC’s tubing where we select appropriate double butted tubing profiles for ideal ride characteristics across our 46-61cm frame size range)
  • Limited Edition version in Columbus Zona
  • Stainless steel dropouts
  • Versatile for everyday riding
  • Hidden fender mounts
  • Straight blade lugged crown fork
  • Also available in Awesome lime green color
  • Internal cable routing
  • A geared version of this same cross race geometry is coming to market in September 2012. It’s the Macho Man in Citron/White.

Mr. Pink – (No, the bike is not pink. It’s a reference to that Steve Buscemi movie.) Mr. Pink is a higher grade steel road bike that has a fast, quick feel to it.

  • Columbus Zona tubing
  • Internal cable routing
  • Lugged forks
  • Hidden fender mounts
  • Propriety rear drop out
  • Press Fit 30 bottom bracket

Space Horse – Rough road light touring bike or Do-It-All Road bike. The Space Horse is one of All City’s best selling models.

  • 700c x 37 tires allows fenders (max tire fit 700c x 42)
  • Proprietary rear drop out, semi horizontal with hard stop, designed by Anna Schwinn
  • Can run singlespeed or geared
  • Rack mounts (15 lbs front rack, 25 lbs rear rack) and fender mounts

All the steel bikes get an ED Coating as well. This is something that stands out about their bikes.

ED Coating (Electrophoretic Deposition, or Electrodeposition Coating) is a finishing process akin to anodization which All City applies to all our steel frames and forks. After a dip in phosphorus to clean the steel, our frames and forks are submerged in a paint bath and an electric charge is then applied, fusing a very thin and uniform satin black coating to the surface of the metal. Once the frame or fork is removed, the excess paint is washed away, leaving only the bonded surface coating. Since it coats the entire surface of the material inside and out, ED coating provides excellent rust and corrosion resistance, and also works great as a base coat for paint.
