One of the most popular road bike tires on the market has gotten an overhaul — and is now also available in a tubeless version. The new Continental GP5000 is claimed to deliver 12% better rolling resistance and 20% more puncture protection than the outgoing GP4000sII.
The new tire is also claimed to be 10g lighter, and it comes with the addition of a new rubber layer that’s designed to absorb more vibration. US retail price is $79 and the Continental GP5000 is available in 23mm and 25mm sizes now, with 28mm and 32mm said to be coming online before the end of the year.
Continental also announced the launch of their first-ever road tubeless tire, the GP5000 TL. This tire is said to improve on even the GP5000, with 5% better rolling resistance and 5% more puncture protection, plus impressive weight of just 300g in the 25mm width. US retail is $94 and it will also available before the end of the year.
