Here is a little perspective on where we are. In the far distance are the Alps, which run up to the edge of Lake Constance (aka Bodensee), a nearly 40-mile long body of water whose shores touch Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. In the middle of this photo is the Messe Friedrichshafen, the massive convention center that hosts Eurobike. The grounds themselves include 13 halls, a blimp hangar, and large outdoor exhibition area. In total there is roughly 280,000 square feet of booth space. Needless to say it's hard to see it all.

For the past three years Marin had a pretty standard booth, explained marketing man Chris Holmes. This year they opted for something a little more Marin. Taking inspiration from a local haunt back in NorCal called Gestalt House, they had their German booth builder create a more open and inviting space highlighted by a faux bar. There's nothing fake about all those bottles though. They're all filled with beer brewed in Munich that was handed out and consumed Friday at Eurobike.

Just like almost every bike maker, BMC is working on an e-mountain bike. This prototype has no name yet, nor is there a timetable for release. But judging by the clean finish, it cant be far off.

Shimano launched a host of new products at Eurobike, including a dropper post and its S-PHYRE premium shoe line for road (RC9) and mountain (XC9). The one-piece outer is constructed from supple, stretch-resistant and breathable Teijin Avail microfiber synthetic leather. Perforated dimple vents make the shoes more flexible, providing a glove-like fit, says Shimano. The surround wrap upper also better accommodates a wider range of foot shapes, now enabling up to E+ wide widths in a standard size. Two Boa IP1 dials allow for quick and precise micro-adjustments in 1mm increments. Price for either road or mountain shoes is $400. Purchase includes complementary socks for road, cross-country and cyclocross racing.
