Varia Smart Bike Lights
Connected to an Garmin Edge GPS unit, these lights put the headlight beam where the rider needs it most, depending on current speed: further away for high speeds, closer at lower speeds. The tail light changes its brightness when a deceleration is detected to alert traffic. The headlight offers a high beam cut-off to avoid blinding oncoming traffic while still giving 74 lux at 10 meters. When paired with a Garmin Edge unit that has light-sensing capabilities, the brightness intensity of both front and rear light can be controlled automatically.
Varia Rearview Bike Radar
This radar will detect up to eight vehicles from behind, offering the cyclist information about the distance and rate of approach. If not paired with a compatible Garmin Edge unit, you can use the Radar Display Unit with LED interface to be informed about vehicles up to 140 meters away. As an extra measure of safety, the tail light automatically brightens when approaching vehicles are detected, adjusting accordingly.
Edge Explore 1000 GPS
More focused on navigation and security, the Edge Explore 1000 offers up to three round-trip ride options on the preloaded maps after inputting distance and other parameters. You can plan new routes to follow (on device or through apps). The unit offers incident detection through an integrated accelerometer where it automatically or manually sends alerts to emergency contacts. Connected to a smartphone, it offers instant uploads, incoming call and text alerts, live tracking and weather information.
