Keeping it real with steel is the motto behind the Masi Gran Criterium. The frame is externally lugged Reynolds 525 steel dressed with a Shimano 105 drivetrain, Ritchey bar, stem and post, Prologo saddle, Shimano RS10 wheels, and lots of beautiful design details.

The Gran Criterium is available in six frame sizes (49cm, 51cm, 53cm, 56cm, 58cm, 60cm), weighs 21.5 pounds in a 56cm, and retails for $2070. Here’s Masi’s Philip Tintsman with a front-to-back tour:

    NICE bike! Might’ve preferred Apex on it, or perhaps Tiagra and a lower price point, but still, she’s a beauty. Would love to see more mid-range steel bikes out there, smartly spec’d.

    And props to RBR on posting the Geometry chart. That’s a nice touch. 🙂

    Bottom bracket is too high while the head tube is too short. It makes for a racing bike which is not going to fly with the racing crowd because of its weight.

    My 1976 Masi Faliero Super Record 54cms Reynolds 531 bike with pedals weighs 22 lbs. So much for progress.

      My friend, Gene Carr, had a 70’s Masi – Italian. Coolest bike I have ever seen. I have liked Masi ever since. Masi does not need to progress from excellence!

    All modern day steels should come with nice retro paint jobs like this.
    Good spec except for the wheels. I agree with the campy comment. Campy and steel is just right.
