Tour de Moselle Crash

Carbon Road Fail Slide

Roger rides for Chambery CF, which a feeder team for AG2R.

At the 2017 edition of the Tour de Moselle TT, Maxime Roger was sitting in second place. As he was sprinting at nearly 40 mph, his TT extensions slipped. From the video, it’s hard to determine the cause of the failure, but speculation from the team is that the incorrect bolt lengths were used.

Regardless, the accident catapulted Roger over the bars and into a ESPN worthy slide. He suffered severe bruising and road rashing, but hopes to be back in time for the Tour du Gevaudan, which starts September 23rd. You can learn more about his condition (if you understand French) on DirectVelo.
