Pinarello was at the Bike Press Camp event showing some of their 2017 bike lineup to various members of the media. Two of the highlights included the all new GAN GR and GAN GR-S gravel bikes. Both of these are full carbon although a different layup is used for each. Both bikes come equipped with disc disk brakes and the “S” in the GR-S stands for suspension, the same style of suspension that is used on their Dogma K8-S model.

The GAN GR-S uses elastomer dampened suspension like their Dogma K8-S model.

The GAN GR-S features an elastomer dampened suspension that provides 1 centimeter of travel. Preload is set using a spanner wrench and the suggested amount of sag is 2 to 3 millimeters. This softail like design was originally used by Team Sky for racing on the cobbles.

The GR-S frame is T900 high modulus carbon and is made in Pinarello’s Taiwan factories and features very slick internal cable routing and an Italian style BB. The stays have also been designed for flex to provide a more compliant ride over the rough stuff. The Shimano Ultegra disk brakes have flat mount calipers and the bike has 12mm thru-axle spacing in the front and 12x142mm spacing in the rear. The fork is Pinarello’s own design with compliance for the gravel rider a key precept. The GAN GR-S will accomodate tires up to 35c in width, but can probably fit even wider tires.

The geometry of the GAN GR-S includes 425mm chainstay length, 390mm axle-to-crown, 50mm of fork rake and a 67mm BB drop. The Pinarello GAN GR-S will be available with a Shimano Ultegra groupset (not the 105 shown here) for $5,250.

The Pinarello GAN GR is made from slightly heavier but more affordable T600 carbon and will retail with a Shimano 105 group for $2,850.

The Pinarello GAN GR shares the same geometry as the GAN GR-S but without the elastomer suspension. The GR also uses a slightly heavier but more affordable T600 carbon frame. This bike has the same geometry and also uses the 12mm thru-axle spacing in front and 12x142mm spacing in the rear. Disk brakes are also flat mount.

The GAN GR also had the same geometry as the GR-S. This bike will be available with a Shimano 105 group and will sell for $2,850..
