The 2015 Giro d’Italia will serve as backdrop for the release of POC’s latest cycling sunglasses, the Do Half Blade. Look for riders of the Cannondale-Garmin pro cycling team to be sporting the new shades during the three-week grand tour across Italy.

Modeled after POC’s Do Blade shades, the Half Blade is claimed to provide improved vision and fit, and comes with replaceable Zeiss lenses, which have been optimized for road cycling by increasing contrast to give riders the best chance to spot surface irregularities. The new lens also has anti-fog and water ripple treatments to further enhance visibility.

“We really wanted to give a rider the best feel and vision possible as an increased field of vision improves the ride experience and bike safety,” said Oscar Huss, POC’s head of product development. “To meet this challenge a critical new feature which came out of our research and testing is the redesigned and reduced frame which enhances lower and peripheral vision”.

The Do Half Blade is injected with grilamid which maintains its low weight and improves durability as fewer moving parts are needed. An adjustable nose piece enhances on-face fit. Availability is set for June. Pricing has not yet been released.

Stay away from POC’s sunglasses, the scratch in a millisecond, so bad that you just can’t see. I bought mine from backcountry I regret it every time I see them sitting in my desk. STAY AWAY!

Hi Carlos, we are surprised and sad to hear that you have had a bad experience with our lenses. Please contact us at [email protected] to get new lenses and to help us make sure our products keep the highest standards. The lenses from Carl Zeiss Vision should be of good quality and should of course not scratch in a millisecond. We hope to hear from you soon! Best regards/POC

I have nothing to say except for good things about POC sunglasses. I’ve been using the DO Blades Hesjedal edition for a year now and absolutely love them. What I will say is that replacement lenses have been almost impossible to come by. I had to crash on my face to get my lenses to scratch, but when I went to go buy a replacement lense, I couldn’t find the one that came with my glasses which had a cool mirror finish! I decided to settle for any lense I could find, but unfortunately they were sold out on the POC website for months. When I got my LBS to call POC they left a message but never heard back. I was finally able to find one, the last one, regular tint lense on Backcountry. In the future I hope they stock more lenses. I would love to have a clear one for twilight crits and night time commuting so that I can use my POCs exclusively.
