Following the release of Ultegra-level and 105-grade hydraulic road disc brakes in 2015, and then Sora mechanical disc brakes earlier this year, Shimano is now offering its fourth flat mount dedicated road hydraulic disc brake, the Tiagra BR-RS405.
These new stoppers are positioned below 105 and Ultegra, are designed with a flat mount brake caliper and a mechanical hydraulic shift lever. Completing the set 140mm or 160mm rotors featuring Shimano’s Ice Technology cooling system that is designed to dissipate heat and provides more consistent and powerful braking performance.
The new Tiagra shift/brake lever is designed to be ergonomically pleasing for multiple hand sizes thanks to the smooth surface of the hood and its enclosed mechanism. Vivid index shifting on the 10-speed shifting system is claimed to create a light shifting effort with a defined click engagement. The lever reach can be adjusted by up to 10mm.
