All-new Trek Madone Brings New Era of No-Compromise Performance to Road Cycling
“Fast-is-everything” Madone line and full line of Domane models unveiled

(Waterloo, WI/Stavelot, Belgium) – Trek Bicycle today launched an entirely new generation of its eight-time Tour de France-winning road bike with the all-new Madone line. Adopting the mantra of “fast is everything,” the new Madones offers a rider major advancements in three key areas: aerodynamics, weight, and stiffness, most notably the 7 Series Madone that saves its rider an enormous 25 watts over the previous generation at 40kph. Available in 5, 6, and 7 Series OCLV Carbon frames, as well as a 2-Series aluminum version, the Madone brings world-class racing performance to riders of all levels, with no compromise in ride quality. The new Madone line is complimented by a complete line of Domane endurance road models. The Domane 6 Series was previously unveiled in March.

“The next-generation Madones really came from a simple question: What makes a bike faster?” said Ben Coates, Trek Road Bike Product Manager. “And the answer is: everything. It has to be aero, it has to be light, and it has to be efficient, all with no compromise. And that’s what we’ve made with the new Madones.”

The 2, 5, 6, and 7 Series’ frame tubes incorporate a Kammtail Virtual Foil (KVF) shape that retains the aerodynamic advantage of deeper profiles, while reducing weight and improving tube stiffness. The front brake is integrated into the profile of the fork and head tube, with the rear moved behind the bottom bracket. Both brakes use a two-post mounting standard designed by Bontrager, in collaboration with Shimano, who will offer a 9000-series Dura-Ace version of the brake.

At 750 grams, the 7 Series Madone frame is the lightest available to consumers. The 7 Series marks the debut of Trek’s U5 Vapor Coat paint scheme, a sub five-gram aesthetic option that uses no decals and minimal paint. In total, Trek’s engineers removed nearly 200 grams from the frame and fork, without sacrificing any of the balanced ride for which the Madone is famous. With the Madone’s ride-tuned seat mast and reshaped, KVF seat stays, vertical compliance on the new 7 Series is 25% greater than the nearest competitor, with zero loss of lateral stiffness.

“The aero shape gives me free watts, and it weighs next to nothing,” said Fränk Schleck of RADIOSHACK NISSAN TREK. “Over a three week stage race, that’s enormous. It’s crazy. I love this bike.”

The 6 and 7 Series are available in both Trek’s H2 geometry, as well as a new, more aggressive H1 geometry. Like all Madones, they’re optimized for electronic drivetrain integration, and the 6 and 7 Series models can be configured to the riders’ wildest dreams through Trek’s Project One custom program.

Along with the three new carbon options, Trek also unveiled an all-new 2-Series aluminum Madone, featuring Kammtail technology in an entry-level package that brings the aero benefits to more recreational riders. Trek’s cobble-conquering endurance model, the Domane, is now also available in a full range of options, from the Strade-Bianche winning 6 Series, as well as OCLV carbon 5, 4, and 3 Series, and a 2 Series aluminum option. The new Madone and Domane lines are available today at Trek retailers worldwide.
