In February 2013, the world’s best cyclocross racers descended on Louisville, Kentucky’s Eva Bandman Park and Cyclocross Venue to fight for the honor of wearing the rainbow jersey as world cyclocross champion. This past weekend, the world championships returned to that same locale, albeit for a distinctly different kind of race. This was the 2014 Singlespeed Cyclocross World Championships.

Continuing the grand traditions of prior one-speed ’cross champs, this year’s brouhaha included a full weekend of some racing and mostly revelry. As is customary, the Singlespeed Cyclocross World Championships included a feats of strength competition, bicycle tours through some of Louisville’s most scenic areas, and of course generous samplings of Kentucky’s finest spirits. To see how it all went down, check out this video by participant Kevin Niedorf and friends. And if you suddenly get the itch to get in on this riotous action, next year’s SSCXWC are slated for Victoria, British Columbia.
