I have the opportunity to purchase a new 2008 5.2 Madone or a 2009 5.5 Madone. It looks like the only major difference is that the 5.2 is Ultegra SL and the 5.5 is Sram Force. Since the 5.5 is a 2009 it is quite a bit more. After taxes the 5.5 would cost $1273dollars more than the 5.2 (on sale). I am currious to know if the Force groupo is worth the extra $1273.

Thanks

Did you ride them both?

Or at least ride SRAM and Shimano components?

They shift very differently and the hoods fit the hand differently as well.

$1273 would go a long way towards some nice wheels or a power meter. Something that you'll notice long after you forgot which groupo was lighter.

IMO: NO!

The '09 has an RDH, but that is no big deal. The Ultrgra SL group is really nice and smooth as silk; and almost as light as DA 7800. I suppose it comes down to whether you like the SRAM ergonomics better than the Shimano's because both will be essentially flawless.

Is this the Pro model or the Performance? Isn't the crankset on the '08 Bontrager and not SL?
