I am thinking of putting a mtn bike handlebar on my road bike with a DA triple 10-speed drive. Does anyone know of a 10-speed mtn bike shifter compatible with a Shimano 10-speed cassettes? I plan to use an XTR rear derailleur.

Mtn Bike stuff is 9-speed MAX. You can use an XTR RD, but you will need to use road 10-speed shifters. I have used 9-speed shifters, derailers, cassettes interchangably. You just need to watch you don't go too far beyond the derailers max tooth range.

10 speed - try friction shifters

I just picked up a mtn bike friction thumb shifter for my frankenbike 30 speed schwinn. It works great. Not as neat as the Ultegra STI stuff on my wife's bike, but it works very well and there are no indexing issues.

I am going to get a set of these and see how they work
