I had my bike upgraded from 8-speed Shimano to 9-speed a couple of years ago. Although chain was left alone(8-speed Shimano) and it was shifting fine. Last week I changed the crank to a new compact 10 speed FSA 50/34 and a new compact derailleur. 8-speed chain is too wide for the new set up, it rubs on the inside of the new derailleur and on the front chain rings. Should I replace the chain with 9-speed chain or 10 speed chain? Will the 10 speed chain work with 9-speed cassette? I would like to use SRAM chain(9-speed) because of the connecting link, but they are thicker than Shimano 9-speed chains. Any suggestions...?

Shimano or KMC 9 or10 speed...

I used a 10spd KMC on a 9spd Shimnao drivetrain before going to a cmapy set-up.

I also use a KMC X10 SL on my 9spd MTB and it works great!
KMC has a snap link also.

A SRAM PC-89/99 should also work just fine.
