does anyone think that there would be a problem with me switching to 172.5 cranks from 170s? I would like to focus on timetrials and improve my climbing a bit, so I thought the extra leverage would help. I have 172,5s on my mountain bike, so I am used to them on that bike. I'm 5'8" and my inseam is about 32".

Thanks in advance.

I don't think that...

...2.5 mm is going to be noticeable.I went the opposite direction from 172.5 to 170 and did'nt notice a difference.

Agree--no probs, but not a big difference, either

I just built a bike for a friend from parts that were left in a storage unit he owns (the tenant hadn't paid in six months, and nobody could find him). The first set of cranks I put on were 170mm, but later he found some 175s and, because my buddy is 6'2", I swapped them. I could feel a little difference when I was spinning fast (my normal cadence is about 85-90, but 95 felt right with these). He's a less experienced rider, and he said he couldn't feel anything at all.
