Looking at a 1987 Bianchi Brava, great condition it appears and just recently Re-built last year - many new components inc. cables and cable housing, cassette, brake pads, bottom bracket, tubes and tires.

Not sure how much these guys go for now a days and am new to the cycle game. I live in Vancouver, BC if that helps..

Is this a good beginner bike?

It's not a bad place to start, depending on the asking price.
Steel frames are awesome. But the parts are 20 plus years old. Things have come along way.
I'm not sure what price, but for me, that bike in my side , I'm not giving more then 150-200. That's it

I bought an 88 Brava a few years back for about 180 and sold it a year later for 200 with new tires. Rode nice, room for slightly fatter tires, etc. if it fits and rides and shifts nice, it's a decent find.

the bianchi collectors won't be excited by it, since it's not particularly rare or built with exotic stuff, but as far as riding it, it should be a nice roller.

I just wouldn't pay a premium for it. I'd pay $200 US, max.
