So I woke up this morning planning on a long ride, but just wasn't feeling it (or so I thought). I decided to get my haircut and hang out with some friends instead. So I get on my fixed gear, and ride 7 miles to the place where I always get my haircut. <img src="https://farm1.static.flickr.com/110/250894449_2e0aeb9282.jpg?v=0">
Try to call some friends who live in the area, but cant get ahold of anyone, and end up deciding that a long ride might be a good idea after all.

I went a little further north, and then toward the lake front to get on the lakeshore bike path at Foster Beach.

From there I rode down the MUT from Chicago's north side, to the south side, about 12 miles to 31st St.

Passed Soldier Field (Go Bears!) on the way

my origional plan was to get of the path at 18th street, (I live on 24th so its more direct) I usually go to 31st, but I had a pretty strong head wind and my legs were a little sore. There ended up being a bunch of construction, and the path was re-reouted through the Museum Campus (aka tourist hell zone) and I couldn't find where to cut through to cross over the highway. The path runs between the lake and the highway, and you can only get on and off at certain points. So I got really lost around Soldier Field, and the big convention center, and ended up at 31st st. anyway. :mad2:

My last couple miles were through the industrial area of the city, and then I was finally home in Pilsen.

Beaches, Lake, view of the sky line, and a threatening storm that held off... all in all a pretty good day.

(I didn't take these pictures, dont have a camera at the moment)

I lost the usb cable to my digital camera, making it pretty useless. And this thread was useless without pics so I googled some. Really did pass all those places though. That last pic with the old buidings is a couple blocks from my apartment. the whole neighborhood looks pretty similar.

Awesome. I love Chicago- would move there in a heartbeat if our jobs and the real estate market cooperated.

I was out there for work recently, so some site visits in an arc from St. Charles to Wilmette (basically 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock from Chicago proper), and was surprised at how 'country' it gets so near to the city- looks like lots of good rides...

Ha! A perfect example of making do with what ya`ve got! Still kind of funny, though.
