I finally found my 3Rensho road frame...more accurate is the frame found me..

2 weeks ago, I received a PM from a first time poster offering me a 3Rensho frame...Naturally, I was very sceptical.. After numerous email and a couple of phone calls the seller was in fact legitimate ..

He bought the bike from the original owner off of Craiglist but it was too small for him...He was a lurker on RBR and noticed I was a fan.

We came to an agreement on price for the frameset only and this past weekend, I flew to North Carolina( business trip..yeah right!) to meet the seller and pickup the frame..

It's gorgeous......It is currently being shipped back to me.. I'll have it on Friday.. I should have it built this weekend...I'll have plenty of pics

Here are some pics that I got from the seller..it looks even better in person..the little details are amazing..

I plan on a 7400 series Dura Ace build...Yellow rolls saddle and yellow bar tape..

I also received a call from the guy that is painting my 3Rensho track frame and it's ready too... Check the fixed board this weekend for pics of that bike......

two 3Renshos in the same week..

Sweet. A few years ago, the Yellow Jersey bike shop in Madison, WI, had a bunch of Katanas with blue-to-white fade paint jobs. I've long regretted not buying one but didn't realize what nice frames they were at the time.

Nice looking frame! ;)

I'm glad you're happy with it...I'm still sad it was too small for me.

It was nice to meet you; can't wait to see the pics of it built up again!

They are super strong. I admit to owning a katana some time ago, and rode it for a little a couple of years. I purchased it new from Yellow Jersey- one of the light blue metalic ones. Indeed, the attention to detail was very nice, thinned tri point lugs, that interesting fast back seatstay/clamp structure...

The handling is quick, but neutral, and I can't say there was anything dead about the frame, it was really quite alive, but in the end we just didn't click. It 'felt' heavy to me, if that means anything. It came down to it, or my Merckx Corsa 01. I'd ride the Corsa to India. And back. Maybe a side trip to the Cape Horn. F*** I love riding that bike. Sold the 3Rensho.

I'd be interested to hear your feedback Dave, yours I think is sized differently, but it is exactly the same frame, tubing, fork etc. The super super burly BB cluster- if you haven't noticed yet, you'll see. You could just about build another frame with the metal that's in the thing. Really beautiful frame. Beautiful work. You'll enjoy it immensely.

Oh, god don't i know it. Andy tried to sell me a 3rensho cyclocross/adventure bike back then. I passed on it as it was more than twice what I wanted to spend... I still kick myself about that one.

I've never seen another one like it.

A guy that occasionally rode with our club back in the late '80's had a yellow Katana. I wanted that bike.

Nice find, Dave. Now, how do you decide which bike to ride? I get confused with four.

Nice, I can see where Dave was suspect of the offer at first. It plays upon his weaknesses, "So I have this 3Rensho, its RED you interested"?

Great find "again" Dave Hickey-san. Will this bike be cleaned up and ridden (after a few touch ups and what nots) or will she go in for restoration as you did with the "Rensho track frame? Just curious. This road bike looks pretty good over all, can't go wrong with a red bike. Congrats.

Glad to see it worked out

Nice work. It's found a good home. As for finding one in a larger size, just be patient. Dave's been looking for a nice one for years. I waited 10 years to find a Merckx 753 in my size so keep looking. What size are you looking for?

56cm would be ideal, but 55-57 would work...
