The family just booked the 4th of July week at the North 40 Lodge between Whitefish and Columbia Falls. We'll be just outside Glacier National Park. I will quite likley have the road bike along. I won't have a mountain bike. I've read a few things in guidebooks about cycling the park and area. I know about the cycling limits on Going to the Sun Road. I've read some about possible construction along Going to the Sun this summer. Anyone with local knowledge have some tips, ideas, or advice.
no inside scoop but have fun. Glacier is probably my favorite place along with the needles in california. The going to the sun road is great. Did it in the summer of 92 when I biked from missoula to jasper park. hopefully others in the area can give you specifics. it is so gorgeous up there...
I would contact Lee or Jan at Glacier Cyclery in Whitefish...great folks and they know the skinny for sure.
My in-laws live in Bigfork, MT and theyre is a TON of great road riding on that side of Flathead lake. Have fun, Brett
