4 am thunderstorms added 'cross quality water to the venue and just to be sure Mother Nature showered 15 minutes before the first race of the day. I had two goals for the day: 1- not be last like I've been at most 'cross races for the previous 3 years. 2- go hard enough to throw up in my mouth just a little bit.

I was 3rd into the 1st corner and after half a lap had pulled to 1st and had a gap. The run-up to the church was my undoing. I guess I need to run more. By the end of the 45 minutes I'd worked my way back to 4th.

I owe it all to riding, less beer, no snacks and no second helpings. I'm somewhere between 35-40 pounds lighter than last season.

USGP is in town next weekend. I'm optimistic I'll have a good weekend again.

More proof that a few pounds off of the rider is more beneficial than a few ounces off of the bike. Great job on being so disciplined!
