well, not any bikini babes in the shots. sorry ;) i didn't want to be that perv guy with the camera ya know.

i took a jaunt to the beach today in San Diego. had my bike and my camera so i snapped a few shots even though the bike is still not completely done. i need to paint the back rim white and i need to install my fender mounted torpedo light.

it's an old 50's(?) Columbia Three Star which a put 700c fixed gear wheels on. this thing is now my commuting bike. it takes some effort to get it started but it hauls butt. great for demoralizing roadies in spandex too :D

this is what the more populated part of the beach looks like at 2pm on a Thursday in April. you should see how crowded it is on a weekend! so many honeys

A man after my own hart. I love passing a group of butterfly roadies going up hill on my fixie... On your left never sounded so sweet!

Wait a minute...

After admiring the bike last night I realized that the bike is probably not set-up for caliper brakes... I wondered "is he brakeless?" Back I come to see that there appears to be a brake lever and, what.... a drum brake? Ohhh.... I think I like it even more... Tell us about the brake...

it's a roller brake hub. it's not very effective but it does help. trying to stop a 45lb bike can be a tall order without a little help. the cross lever allows me to switch over to the original cruiser bars in a about a minute.

That is a really nice bike.

It's a good thing I live near some steep hills or else I would have more kinds of bikes to add to the garage; you see this way I'm limited to stuff I can get home on.

just when i think i have a bike for every purpose i seem to find another kind of bike to build with another specialized purpose. it's a sickness.
