I own a Chorus 10 speed cassette. If I use the 10 speed spacers, are 8 or 9 speed cogs interchangeable? I ask this because these are cheaper on e-bay and would allow me to mix and match as needed. Thanks in advance.

no...

8 speed cogs don't have the same spline pattern and 9 speed cogs are slightly thicker. The difference isn't great, but adds up if a lot of 9 speed cogs are used.

Mixing cogs randomly often results in poor shifting. Cogs are sold in matched sets with specific radial timing to insure the best shifting. If the timing is not matched, the shifting will suffer.

If you want to save a few bucks, buy Veloce cassettes.
