But seriously, Careful with the knee! I've been winter training/commuting with my brakeless fixie for a few years now, and it's taking its toll. I'm adding a brake as soon as I settle in to my new home (i.e. next week). I had my first Tri for the season this past weekend and I can tell that my knees are feeling all that skidding I did all winter.
If you want to build up knee strength: take up Tele skiing. But that's for another forum...
Still, there are few things finer than riding a fixie (and subsequently experiencing it become an extension of your body - and your soul).
